Vulcanium founder James Leopold began his titanium manufacturing career in a converted dairy. That's where Vulcanium was in 1967 when he bought it ... three employees working with a metal few people even knew existed. More than a quarter of a century later, titanium is a marketing buzzword for everything from aerospace to medical implants and Vulcanium's reputation for excellence in design, fabrication and service has made it the standard for titanium products worldwide.
Great service starts with a CAD-trained Engineering Department that listens to customers and translates their needs into problem-solving designs. Quality service continues in our shop, where the lessons of decades of TIG welding expertise share the spotlight with the most recent high-tech advances in CNC stamping and bending. And now the Internet, where www.Vulcanium.com means that servicing your account remains priority one with us.
Over the years, Vulcanium has acquired other businesses (the metal finishing division of Astrometallurgical in 1979, Futura in 1984), become a player on the international metals scene (reorganizing into three divisions including Vulcanium Metals Incorporated in 1995) and expanded its product line to include aerospace metals in 1996, aluminum anodizing rack systems in 1998 and titanium for medical implants and appliances in 2000. But, we have never lost sight of the fact that it's client satisfaction that means a job well done.
Providing the finest service possible means that every member of our team feels pride of ownership in every item shipped. Kaizen/Continuous Improvement was implemented in 1992 to reduce delivery and lead time by two to four weeks. In 1994, Vulcanium won an Illinois Manufacturers' Association Team Excellence Award with its QIP 250 program. Now called Focus 250, this program still challenges all employees to raise the standards for quality and processes while competing for quarterly and annual awards. In addition, employee representatives from every unit sit on standing committees and are instrumental in implementing our monthly training calendar.
So, it's not luck that Vulcanium has customers that date back to that converted dairy. Neither is it by chance that we still have employees who were with James in those earliest days. Vulcanium Corporation has always stood for superior design, for answering the needs of the marketplace, for putting service first. We are with you start to finish.
